Recent studies have shown that having more women in c-level or board positions makes for more profitable companies. And since profitability is good for everyone, I’m currently involved in the National Center for Women in Technology (NCWIT); they have a mission to increase gender diversity in the workplace. They have some amazing tools to help your company attract and retain more females.
On Dec 5th from 12-1, NCWIT is hosting a lunch entitled Startups, Culture, and Why Diversity Matters. If you’re interested in learning more about how to make your startup more amazing, please join us.
You can RSVP here.
I haven't read the studies, but my experience confirm your data. Before somebody accuse me of being a feminist … I am a man. I have evaluated many pitches in the last year, and the most successful teams have (usually) women on board, in same cases are lead by a woman.
So guys, if you want to launch a start-up, don't be conservative and involve the ladies. They will help you to find the money.

I wouldn't actually classify myself as a feminist either. In fact, I struggle with ladies-only groups because it feels too much like an echo chamber to me. I don't think you get respect by jumping up and down in a group of women going "RESPECT ME RESPECT ME!" I think you get it by earning it, and having some help from others along the way.
